A Message from the Negaunee Middle School Office

Negaunee Middle School from street

Hello Negaunee Middle School Families!

I’m very excited to be returning to Negaunee Middle School and am truly looking forward to my role as principal. I began my teaching career at NMS in the early 1990s, and after 30 years of teaching, coaching, and education consulting in Madison, WI, it feels great to be home. I am committed to continuing our district’s strong tradition of educational excellence while fostering a school environment where every student feels safe, loved, and supported. I believe all students can reach their fullest potential when they are empowered by a caring community, and I look forward to partnering with families, staff, and community members to help every child thrive.

While the first day of school comes with a lot of excitement for middle schoolers, it can also bring on feelings of nervousness. I encourage all students (and an accompanying adult) to attend the NMS Open House on Wednesday, August 20. This is an opportunity for students to get familiar with the layout of the building, try out their lockers, bring in school supplies ahead of time, meet their teachers, and help ease any jitters before the first day of school the following week. I look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces in the halls of NMS that afternoon!

Speaking of familiar faces -- Mrs. Heather Toutant will begin a new role this year at NMS as the Assistant Principal. Beginning Monday, August 11, NMS office hours will be 7:30am-2:30pm, M-F. Office staff will be there ensuring everything is in place for the first day of school and preparing for a successful new school year. Please feel free to contact us if there is anything we can do to help as you prepare for the new school year.
